Yes — completely free. Posting whims, matching, chat, group hangouts, the safety toolkit: all of it. No subscriptions, no paywalls, no “premium” asterisks.
Everyone is 18+ (birthdate required). Report and Block are one tap away, and reports get reviewed first. Meet in public — there's a built-in list of good first-meet spots — share your ETA with a trusted contact, and set a check-in timer that emails them if you don't tap “I'm safe”. Messages clear after 24 hours.
Someone took a quick selfie that a human moderator matched to their profile. It's optional, it earns a badge, and it's a good signal — not a background check. Trust your gut either way.
Whimate runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later — download it from the App Store. Your account syncs across devices automatically. Whimate is for adults — you must be 18 or older.
Only members nearby — that's the point. Your whim shows up for people close enough to actually make it; they never see your exact location, just a rough distance like “under 1 km”. You can edit or cancel a whim any time, and every whim expires on its own (2 hours by default).
Location is what makes Whimate work: you need it on to post, join or respond, and we refresh it when you open the app — never in the background. Other people only ever see a rough distance like “under 1 km”, never your coordinates. Showing up on the Nearby list is a separate opt-in that switches itself off after a few hours. We don't sell personal data, and you can download or delete everything from your profile. Details live in our Privacy Policy.
It's our vibe-check. You add a public Instagram handle to your profile before you can post a whim, so the person meeting you can see you're a real human with a real life. We never post to it, and we don't ask for a phone number or ID.
Anywhere. Whimate runs on real proximity, not a city list — set your radius and the feed shows whims posted around you. We're newly launched, so some places are quieter than others: post the first whim and be the reason it isn't. If your area's empty, invite a friend and it's instantly not.
